The Open Science Initiative in Medicine (OSIM) and the LMU Open Science Center (OSC) are pleased to offer the following online training sessions which are particularly relevant for early-career researchers (including Master students, PhD students, post docs); please register for one or both sessions:

  * Presentation + Q&A: Introduction to credible research on Monday 27 February, 15:00-16:00, online.

Do you want to gain more trust in the research that you do, and make it as credible as it can be in the eyes of your peers, the public, and funding agencies?
Join and learn about creating:

  *   statistical plans in advance of collecting data to prevent biases in analyses, with the help of preregistration and data simulation ;
  *   reproducible workflows, so you can spot your mistakes in your data wrangling or analyses, with essential programming skills;

This short online lecture will be an introduction to several useful open research practices and tools - and can be followed-up by several workshops delivered on demand by the LMU Open Science Center coordinator Dr Malika Ihle. One workshop is already scheduled on March 7, 9:00-12:00: Version control with Git and GitHub within RStudio (see below).

Participants: Open for all researchers
Registration: https://en.xing-events.com/VFRFGGZ

  * Workshop: Version control with Git and GitHub within RStudio on Tuesday 7 March, 9:00-12:00, online.

Are you working within RStudio to wrangle and analyses your data? Join this 3 hours workshop to learn how to track and manage changes in your code so you never have to save multiple copies of your script again (e.g. before deleting a piece of code or trying a new function, or just for back-up!). Version control with Git and GitHub will make your workflow cleaner and more reproducible and allow you to code (or even write manuscripts) collaboratively. This workshop will focus on how to use Git and GitHub within the RStudio IDE and consists in facilitated self-paced tutorials: https://github.com/MalikaIhle/Introduction-RStudio-Git-GitHub and https://github.com/MalikaIhle/Collaborative-RStudio-GitHub that include the setting up and configuring of all software required.

Participants: The targeted audience are novices regarding version control / Git, but who use RStudio at least occasionally. No R knowledge is necessary.
Registration: https://en.xing-events.com/VJUHBMW

Best wishes
Malika
