Dear computational reproducibility enthusiasts

There were quite a few last-minute cancellations for our version control workshop this afternoon.

After going through our waiting list, there are still a few online and in person seats available again; register here:

Hybrid workshop: "Version control with Git and GitHub within RStudio"
By OSC Fellows & Coordinator

When: 15.01.2024, 13:30-16:30
Where: Leopoldstr 13 Munich, room 3322, and on Zoom
Registration: https://www.pretix.osc.lmu.de/lmu-osc/version-control/

Abstract:
Are you working within RStudio to wrangle and analyses your data?
Join this 3 hours workshop to learn how to track and manage changes in your code so you never have to save multiple copies of your script again (e.g. before deleting a piece of code or trying a new function, or just for back-up!). Version control with Git and GitHub will make your workflow cleaner and more reproducible and allow you to code (or even write manuscripts) collaboratively.
This workshop will focus on how to use Git and Github within the RStudio IDE and consists in facilitated self-paced tutorials: https://github.com/MalikaIhle/Introduction-RStudio-Git-GitHub and https://github.com/MalikaIhle/Collaborative-RStudio-GitHub that include the setting up and configuring of all software required.

Participants: The targeted audience are novices regarding version control / Git, but who use RStudio at least occasionally. No R knowledge is necessary.

Requirement: Participants must have their own laptop with admin access. Software will be installed as part of the workshop. No previous knowledge necessary.

Instructors: Pat Callahan (Epidemiology), Felix Henninger (Statistics), Alp Aksu (Psychology), and Dr. Malika Ihle (LMU Open Science Center coordinator)

Logistics: The format of the session is hybrid (you can attend online or in person). The event will be held in English, one-on-one support can be done in German or English. Participation in the workshop is free and open to all. Priority will be given to, in order, members of Departments sponsoring the LMU Open Science Center (Department of Psychology, Faculty of Business Administration, Faculty of Biology), other LMU members, and non-LMU members. Non-members will receive confirmation whether their attendance is possible at least 2 days before the workshop
