Dear LRZ users,
we want to point your attention to the following 2 ANSYS related events at LRZ:
LRZ course on “Introduction to ANSYS Fluid Dynamics (CFX, Fluent) on LRZ HPC Systems”
In the week 2-6 September 2019 the successful LRZ course “ANSYS Fluid Dynamics on LRZ HPC Systems” providing a systematic introduction to the ANSYS CFX and ANSYS Fluent software systems as well as into their efficient
application in a HPC environment at LRZ will be held for the 2nd time. Hereby we would like to inform you, that with currently 17 registered participants it is now already guaranteed that the course will take place and that there are
currently still open seats in the computer class room available. Further registration for this introductory course on practical ANSYS CFD and HPC is still possible for interested participants until 19 August 2019.
In particular we are proud to present our guest speaker Dr. Barbara Neuhierl, Manager CFD Business Development @ CADFEM GmbH, Grafing, who will give in the CADFEM session on Wednesday afternoon (4 September 2019) a short
overview and introduction about meshing capabilities in the most recent version(s) of ANSYS Fluent Meshing. Her presentation will include a practical hands-on session for meshing and simulation of the flow through an example component using ANSYS Fluent Meshing.
Furthermore the course provides deep insides in systematic CFD setup and CFD methodology up to fully automated parametric, mesh and model variations by using Python-scripted ANSYS CFX and ANSYS Fluent simulation and postprocessing workflows.

Joint ANSYS Technology Day by LRZ and CADFEM GmbH
On the occasion of the new 2019 R3 release of the ANSYS software, the LRZ, Garching near Munich and CADFEM GmbH, Grafing jointly present and organize an ANSYS Technology Day on
Wednesday, 6 November 2019 at LRZ. The focus of this ANSYS Technology Day will be set primarily for ANSYS Mechanical and the following topics will be highlighted:
During the final discussion and Q&A round you potentially may want to discuss your specific computational needs, your simulation requirements using ANSYS software at the LRZ facilities, your particular ANSYS model or
your simulation idea with us. All this can be discussed together with the LRZ and CADFEM lecturers and with the participants of the ANSYS Technology Day. To enable this on a higher level, please feel free to contact Dr. Cord Steinbeck-Behrens (csb@cadfem.de)
and/or Dr. Thomas Frank (Thomas.Frank@lrz.de) in advance with your particular questions or points of interest and with the possibility to provide your ANSYS CSM/CFD
model to them.
After the lecture program at the ANSYS Technology Day the LRZ is offering the possibility of a guided tour to the LRZ computer building featuring the new SuperMUC-NG supercomputer, which is ranked in the new TOP500 list
(June 2019) of world’s fastest supercomputers on rank number 9 and which is thereby the fastest supercomputer of all EU member states. Timely registration is mandatory for participants who are interested in the guided SuperMUC-NG tour. The guided tour will
start at approx. 4:00 pm and will last for approx. 1 hour.
More details about the ANSYS Technology Day and the link to the registration page are available on the website:
