Dear HPC users of LRZ,

There are still free places for the following new workshops and courses at LRZ:

Intel Artificial Intelligence Workshop: AI From the Data Center to the Edge

Date: Tuesday, October 15, 2019, 09:00-17:00

Location: LRZ

Registration deadline: October 8, 2019 (extended!)

Lecturers: Intel expert trainers: Vishnu Madhu (technical consultant engineer), Jai Sharma (student ambassador program in Germany/UK, Intel DevMesh program)

Further information and registration https://www.lrz.de/services/compute/courses/2019-10-15_hiai1w19/

Topics:

In this event, Intel will be offering an End to End AI workshop, covering topics on Machine Learning, Deep Learning, as well as the Intel AI DevCloud and optimized frameworks and tools. The workshop will be led by the Intel experts, and will walk through cases of how students can use Intel & AI for their own projects.

Performance Portability Programming with Kokkos

Date: Thursday, October 24, 2019, 09:00-17:00

Location: LRZ

Registration deadline: October 14, 2019

Lecturers: Christian R. Trott (Sandia National Lab, USA)

Further information and registration https://www.lrz.de/services/compute/courses/2019-10-24_hkok1w19/

Topics:

The Kokkos C++ library enables applications and domain libraries to achieve performance portability on diverse many-core architectures by unifying abstractions for both fine-grain data parallelism and memory access patterns. In this tutorial we describe Kokkos’ abstractions, summarize its application programmer interface (API), present performance results for unit-test kernels and mini-applications, and outline an incremental strategy for migrating legacy C++ codes to Kokkos.
