The Making of Charlemagne’s Europe database project will
be holding a launch party to mark the database being
made publically available on its website
(http://charlemagneseurope.ac.uk/). The party will be at
5 pm on Friday 12th
December at King’s College London (History Department, 8th Floor Strand campus).
All are warmly invited to attend: please let Alice Rio
(alice.rio@kcl.ac.uk) know by Thursday 4th December if
you will be coming.
We are also
holding a competition to mark the launch: which is the
strangest personal name you have come across in a
medieval charter? The winner will be decided by a vote
at the launch party. Any personal name in a medieval
charter (500-1500 AD) can be suggested: please send your
favourite name and the charter reference to Rachel Stone
(rachel.stone@kcl.ac.uk) by Wednesday 10th
December. We will be announcing the results in a post on
the blog (http://charlemagneseurope.ac.uk/blog/) after
the launch.
Please forward
this e-mail on to anyone you think would be interested
in attending or submitting a strange name for the
competition.
best wishes,
Rachel Stone
