I wish to apologise to the list for having sent my messages to all.
I did not realise that replying to Georg I would hit everybody.
Again, I am deeply sorry.

Also, pardon me if I correct the
English, but you should say "Please, send your proposal for a 20
minutes or for a poster in English, German, Italian, French, Dutch or
Spanish on or before May 15th, 2011" and "Selected papers
will be published in the
“
Archiv für Diplomatik” upon invitation by the editors."
Finally: "Each speaker is asked to provide extensive abstracts of
his paper in at least two of the conference languages at the latest at
the start of the conference." This sentence is not
clear. What do you mean by abstract? Is this the conference
proposal? Is it for the proceeding? If so, what is the
deadline for submitting the abstract? How extensive is extensive (1
page, 2, 3, 2000 words?).
As a requirement it is absurd. The abstract should be submitted in
one of the 5 languages if the conference has five languages.
Otherwise the conference does not have 5 languages and you are just
trying to increase the probability that the participants can understand
the abstract. Well, it would not work. If one submits an abstract
in Italian and German, I bet that most English speaking people who are
not classic diplomatists would not read either language. If this is
an interdisciplinary conference, you want to open it up to as many
disciplines as possible, especially information science. Asking
these professionals, mostly from North America, to provide a translation
in another language of a very long abstract will put them completely
off.
My two cents.

The study of medieval legal documents (charters, deeds, instruments
...)
makes increasingly use of digital tools. The massive growth of
documents
online - as images, as calendars, as texts - and the attempts made
to
analyze and discuss diplomatics in the web has motivated us to
organize
a second international conference on "Digital Diplomatics". It
will take
place in Naples 29.9.-1.10.2011 and we are looking for proposals.
You
can find the full presentation of the conference at
http://www.cei.lmu.de/digdipl11/
We would like to encourage in particular young scholars and graduate
students to present their ideas and projects on using the new
technologies for studying old documents. Travel grants will be
provided.
We are looking forward to hear from you
for the organization comitee
