Research data management (RDM) becomes an increasingly important component of research projects. While RDM and Open Science grow in popularity across scientific fields, a number of funders are
introducing dedicated requirements and policies that must be met by grantees. This requires a responsible and well-structured management of the data that a project uses or generates.
This workshop introduces the topic of research data management and the RDM tools and services available to you at LMU. The workshop will cover questions like: What are research data? What types of research data exist in different fields and disciplines? What
are important aspects of handling research data during a project? How can research data be made available for re-use? What is the scientific potential of systematic and open RDM?
The workshop is kicked off with a brief introduction to the basics of research data management by the
University
Library’s RDM Information Center, followed by an experience report on handling research data by Dr. Julian Unkel, member of the
LMU Open Science Center. It will be concluded with a brief
overview on RDM services and support that is available to you at LMU.
