Dear users of the HLRB II at LRZ, since September 13, 2011 all of you
have access to SuperMIG. the Migrationssysdtem for SuperMUC(see http://
www.lrz.de/services/compute/hlrb/aktuell/ali4102 and http://www.lrz.de/
services/compute/hlrb/aktuell/ali4069).
Operation of HLRB now continues in two distinct phases:
* until October 15, 2011 the system will be under maintenance and
failures will be fixed although, maybe, only on "on next working
day" basis.
* after October 15, 2011 until end of October, 2011 failed parts of
the HLRB II will no longer be replaced. The quality of the
remaining operation is thus governed by pure chance. It could well
happen that the whole system is affected by a severe failure and
operation of the HLRB II suffers a sudden stop.
In any case, the latest date for the retirement of HLRB II is October
30, 2011.
Again, we urgently recommend that you archive all still needed HLRB-II
data which reside on the $OPT_TMP or $PROJECT file systems to TSM tape
storage as soon as possible. There is no warranty from LRZ that these
data are available beyond October 15, 2011! A procedure for migrating
your scratch and project data from HLRB-II to the new system is
described in the backup and archiving document (http://www.lrz.de/
services/compute/backup/); please look at the scenarios 2 and 3 for
details on how to perform the data migration.
The $HOME file system currently accesses the same NAS space on both
systems, hence you do not need to migrate any for this data by
yourself. An approximate one week maintenance of the SuperMIG system is
scheduled at the end of October due to the migration of the data in
$HOME to the new system and for changes in the electrical
infrastructure.
Please submit any questions through the Servicedesk Portal.
