New Journal: Replication Research (R²)

Dear researchers and meta-researchers, A new journal called Replication Research (R²) has launched: It's a Diamond Open Access journal (free to read and free to publish) that focuses on reproductions (retesting results using the same data), replications (testing results with new data), and conceptual/ methodological discussions on reproducible and transparent research. It's community-run, hosted by the University of Münster and supported by the Münster Center for Open Science (MüCOS) and the Framework for Open and Reproducible Research Training (FORRT). Peer review is open and transparent. Scientific rigor and transparency are emphasized (e.g., data/material/code sharing; mandatory reproducibility checks). Dear colleagues, On Monday, October 20th at 5 pm the Bavarian Academy of Sciences (BAdW) will host Dr. Richard M. Stallman giving a talk about "Free Software and Freedom in the Digital Society" with ensuing discussion. Richard M. Stallman is founder of the Free Software Foundation ( https://fsf.org ) and the GNU project ( https://gnu.org ). He set a mark in the field of digital humanities (DH), in that: 1. he enabled development of entire free software-based suites for digital humanities. 2. die Creative Commons licenses came into existence as a derivation of the Free Software licenses developed by him (e.g. GPL). If we consider that digital humanities reflect the societal way we that consider and use digital technology, then 3. by being a prominent activist for Free Software, he also contributed to the DH. Moreover, He's a great orator and discussion partner. All interested colleagues are cordially invited to attend his talk. The GNU/Linux system, basically the GNU operating system with Linux as the kernel, is used on tens of millions of computers today. Stallman has received the ACM Grace Hopper Award and the ACM Software and Systems Award, a MacArthur Foundation fellowship, the Electronic Frontier Foundation's Pioneer Award, and the the Takeda Award for Social/Economic Betterment, as well as many doctorates honoris causa, and has been inducted into the Internet Hall of Fame.

Dear all, "Data and AI Ethics<https://sites.google.com/view/epix-workshop/2025-data-ethics>" will be a full-day workshop happening on November 14, 2025, at LMU Munich, organized by the Data Ethics Initiative at the LMU Department of Statistics in collaboration with the Munich Center for Machine Learning (MCML). We hope to build inter- and transdisciplinary bridges by bringing together scholars who might otherwise not often have the chance to engage in dialogue on data ethics. We therefore invite anyone interested to join the conversation, regardless of disciplinary or methodological background.
