"Performance Engineering" as | | |we define it is more than employing tools to identify | | |hotspots and bottlenecks. This process must start at the | | |core, socket, and node level, where the code gets | | |executed that does the actual computational work. Once | | |the architectural requirements of a code are understood | | |and correlated with performance measurements, the | | |potential benefit of optimizations can often be | | |predicted. Aenderungen an der Mitteilung: SLURM submission fails Updated Oct 17, 21:00 Dear users of the Linux Cluster systems at LRZ, unfortunately, a permission problem presently prevents job submission of jobs into the serial queue. We hope to resolve this problem as quickly as possible. Also, the login node lxlogin3.lrz.de (==lx64ia3.lrz.de) is not yet available (but the others are, see below). Please note that * the login nodes have new names lxlogin1, lxlogin2, lxlogin3. The old names (lx64ia2, lx64ia3) will continue to be available, however the "lrz-muenchen.de" in the fully qualified host names must be replaced by "lrz.de" * SGE is not available any more for job processing; it has been replaced by the SLURM scheduler. Please consult the SLURM documentation at http://www.lrz.de/services/compute/linux-cluster/ batch_serial/ for information on the required changes to your script. * It may be necessary to recompile binary executables because the new operating environment has a newer and potentially incompatible C library "glibc". However, only a subset of the compute nodes is presently online. These will be returned to operation throughout the next days. Am 29.10.2012 fuehren wir an folgenden TSM Servern eine kombinierte Hard- und Softwarewartung durch: S35 S68, T68I1 T68I4, T69I1 T69I4 Dadurch ergeben sich voraussichtlich folgende Einschraenkungen: T68I1 T69I4: Kein Zugriff auf SuperMIG/MUC Archive ab ca. 10:00 16: 00 Uhr S35 S68: Ein bis zwei kleinere Unterbrechungen von ca. 30 Minuten im Zeitraum zwischen 10:00 und 16:00 Uhr. Wir bitten um Ihr Verstaendnis. SuperMUC: scheduled maintenance Oct. 22

1. Firewall-Softwareupdate (ASA und virtuelle Firewalls) Bei der zentralen Firewall (ASA) wird es durch die Umschaltung auf das Standby-Geraet um 7:30 Uhr einige Sekunden Unterbrechung geben. Am Dienstag, den 23.10. wird wieder zurueckgeschaltet werden. Fuer die virtuellen Firewalls an den Instituten wird es zwischen 7:30 Uhr und 8:30 Uhr jeweils ca. 5 Minuten Unterbrechung geben. 2. TUM Weihenstephan Gebaeude 4126 (Lebensmittelverfahrenstechnik) Zwischen 7:30 Uhr und 9:00 Uhr wird der Switch swg1-kqo ausgetauscht.
