1. TUM Stammgelaende Gebaeude 4 Zwischen 8:00 Uhr und 9:00 Uhr wird der Switch swg1-kbe ersetzt. 2. TUM Garching Maschinenwesen Gebaeudeteil 6 Lehrstuhl LRT Auf Wunsch der Nutzer erst zwischen 9:15 Uhr und 10:00 Uhr werden die beiden Switches swi1-4w6 und der swn1-4w6 ersetzt. Ausserdem werden Aenderungen in der VLAN-Zuordnung vorgenommen. 3. TUM Gabelsberger Strasse 49 Zwischen 8:00 Uhr und 9:00 Uhr werden hier Anschluesse auf die neue Verkabelungsstruktur umgezogen. Im Laufe der Woche werden dazu noch Wartungsarbeiten durch den DFN und M-net stattfinden: Am Mittwoch, den 10.10. zwischen 3:30 Uhr und 5:00 Uhr gibt es eine kurze Unterbrechung beim X-WiN-Anschluss des Schneefernerhauses auf der Zugspitze. Am Donnerstg, den 11.10. zwischen 5:30 Uhr und 6:30 Uhr wird es in der Oettingenstrasse 15 ca. 15 Minuten Ausfall geben. Am Freitag, den 12.10. zwischen 03:00 Uhr und 05:30 Uhr wird der X-WiN- Anschluss in Iffeldorf kurz unterbrochen sein. Upd:MPP Cluster: Interruption of services

Changes to this message: Prolongation of maintenance 2nd Update (October 4, 15:45): Due to unforeseen problems with the electrical infrastructure, return to user operation will be delayed, probably to early next week. We'll keep you up-to-date with the status of the cluster via this URL. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Dear users of the MEGWare MPP cluster at LRZ, due to an extended hardware and software maintenance, the MPP cluster will not be available for user operation between September 24, 8:00 and October 4, 17:00. SLURM batch processing will be suspended on September 24 in order to drain the system before the interruption starts. Part of the maintenance time indicated above is also dedicated for energy measurements on the system. The other cluster segments are not impacted by this maintenance. Upd:SuperMUC fully available again

Changes to this message: Update 5th Update (Oct 3, 12:50) The cause of the GPFS failure on Saturday, Sep 29 has been identified as a software problem triggered by data migration to additionally installed disk space. After performing the data migration in offline mode, the system has now been returned to normal user operation again. Please produce a new login shell to properly set the SCRATCH and WORK environment variables in order to access the GPFS data from the login nodes. Submission of LoadLeveler jobs that use GPFS should now also work again. Changes to this message: Update 4th Update (Oct 2, 13:00) The cause of the GPFS failure on Saturday, Sep 29 has been identified as a software problem triggered by data migration to additionally installed disk space. We have decided to continue the data migration in offline mode and expect the system to become fully available again during the afternoon of Wednesday, Oct. 3. Until then, it is possible to log in to the system and perform Loadleveler processing if only data in the HOME directory are accessed. Please also note that the migration system is not affected, and is fully available. We will notify you via this URL when the system is fully available again. We will provide an update via this URL once we know more. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Dear users of SuperMUC, the reason for the problems with the GPFS filesystem on SuperMUC seem to be defective Infiniband hardware component(s), which broke as a consequence of the power failure on Sunday, September 23rd. Unfortunately, the particular hardware components could not yet be identified and we cannot reliably estimate how long the search will take. IBM is still working on the problem. We apologize for the inconveniences caused by this failure. We will inform you through an update to this announcement as soon as the problem is fixed.
