SuperMIG maintenance Monday, June 18th

Dear users of SuperMIG, since the SuperMIG will not be available on June 18th due to the storage maintenance (see ALI 4319) we will combine this with a SuperMIG system maintenance to avoid a second interruption of user service. 1. Zentrale Netzdienste, Firewall, SLB Um 7:30 Uhr ist durch das Umschalten auf die Backupfirewall eine kurze Unterbrechung zu erwarten. Das Umschalten ist fuer das Einspielen eines Softwareupdates notwendig. Am kommenden Dienstag, den 19.6. ist die Aktion fuer die zweite Firewall nochmals noetig. Um 7:45 Uhr kann es durch die Einspielung eines Hotfixes auf den Service Load Balancern fuer die darueber betriebenen Dienste (Webserver, webmail, pac, Radius u.a.) nochmals zu einer kurzen Unterbrechung kommen. 2. Internetzugang MWN Um 7:45 Uhr wird es durch das Entfernen eines (testweise eingeschleiften) Bandbreitenmanagementsystems zu einer kurzen Unterbrechung kommen. 3. Radius (WLAN, VPN, Eduroam) Um 8:30 Uhr kann es durch das Einspielen neuer Serverzertifikate eine kurze Dienstunterbrechung geben. 4. LMU Schellingstr. 7 Zwischen 7:30 Uhr und 9:00 Uhr wird der Switch swg1-kgg ausgetauscht. 5. Garching Parkring Fuer Donnerstag, den 14.6. hat M-net Wartungsabeiten angekuendigt, welche zwischen 6:00 Uhr und 7:00 Uhr ca. 15 Minuten Ausfall verursachen werden. Upd:Update: SuperMIG back in production

Changes to this message: Update Dear users of SuperMIG, the problems with the NAS filesystems have been fixed with a manual failover (it should have been performed automatically and the bug is reported to the vendor). Since the LoadLeveler was also affected by the filesytem problems some jobs could have been aborted or hanging for a long time and thus not complete withing their time limit. Please resubmit affected jobs. We aplogize for this inconvenience caused by these problems. SuperMIG batch processing suspended

Dear users of SuperMIG, we currently experience problems with the NAS filesystems on SuperMIG, which are not mounted on all nodes. The problem is currently under investigation. For this reason batch processing on SuperMIG has been disabled. On the login nodes also not all filesystems are available. We will notify you though this ALI as soon as the problems are fixed. Dear Life Science User, The ScalaLife project (http://www.scalalife.eu) is organising the CECAM workshop "High Performance Computing in Computational Chemistry and Molecular Biology: Challenges and Solutions provided by ScalaLife project", between October 3 and 5, in CECAM-HQ-EPFL, Lausanne, Switzerland.* ScalaLife has invited renowned life scientists from Europe and USA to discuss recent advances in large scale simulations and showcase their latest results. The workshop will also present the newest developments in three life science software packages: GROMACS, DALTON and DISCRETE. The workshop features multiple hands-on sessions, giving the participants the opportunity to practice the modelling capabilities of the three software packages. These sessions will also include user-clinics, a unique opportunity for users to bring in their own problems and discuss the challenges they face in modelling with the developers of these packages. Registration: Life-scientist and researchers from academia and industry are cordially invited to participate in the workshop.
