Changes to this message: Update Update: Unfortunately the repair measures for the defective water pumps cannot take place before March 3 or 4. In the meantime, the MPP cluster must remain offline. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Due to a problem with the cooling infrastructure the MPP segment has gone offline. 1.Routertausch csr2-kb1 Zwischen 7:30 Uhr und ca. 9:00 Uhr wird der Router csr2-kb1 durch ein neues Geraet der Plattform Cisco Nexus 7000 ausgetauscht. Waehrend der Arbeiten wird weitgehend keine Netzkonnektivitaet zur Verfuegung stehen. Betroffen sind die folgenden Areale: Oettingenstrasse 67 (OZ) Theresienstrasse 37-41 (D) Sternwarte Scheinerstr. 1 (ZJ) Klinikum Rechts der Isar (KG) Giselastrasse 10 (SG) Zentnerstrasse 31 (ZT) Schellingstrasse 33 (YA) Hochschule fuer Fernsehen und Film (FF) Wohnheim Adelheidstr. 13 (Z5) Wohnheim Kreittmayrstr. 14 (Z4) Wohnheim Heiglhofstr. 66 (IT) 2. Virtuelle Firewalls Im Zusammenhang mit dem Routertausch muessen die auf den Routern csr1-kb1 und csr2-kb1 betriebenen virtuellen Firewalls umkonfiguriert werden. Fuer die betroffenen Institutsnetze wird es zwischen 8:00 Uhr und 9:00 Uhr zu einigen Minuten Ausfall kommen. 3. Areale Garching, Grosshadern, Hochschule Muenchen Auf den bereits getauschten Routern csr2-kw5, csr1-kic und csr1-kra muss eine kleine Umkonfiguration vorgenommen werden. Fuer alle darueber laufenden Verbindungen wird es dadurch um ca. 8:00 Uhr zu ca. 10 Sekunden Ausfall kommen. 4. TUM Physikdepartment Garching Zwischen 8:00 Uhr und 9:00 Uhr wird es wegen eines Softwareupdates bei den Anschluessen des Switches swz1-2at zu einigen Minuten Unterbrechung kommen. 5. TUM Garching Gebaeude 5213 (ZAE) Zwischen 7:30 Uhr und 9:00 Uhr wird der Netzbetrieb durch die Ersetzung und Erweiterung der Switches gestoert werden. 6. LMU Luisenstrasse 37 Zwischen 8:00 Uhr und 9:00 Uhr wird ein Firmware-Upgrade des Switches swz2-kfg durchgefuehrt. 7. Webdns-Dienst Zwischen 8:00 Uhr und ca. 8:20 Uhr wird der Webdns-Dienst wegen eines Software-Updates nicht zur Verfuegung stehen. Der DNS-Dienst selbst ist nicht betroffen. SuperMUC: Activation of $SCRATCH Cleanup Strategy on Friday March 8th at 12:00 CET

In order to optimize GPFS I/O performance all data in GPFS need to be homogeneously redistributed (restriped) accross all DDN SFA12k storage controllers attached to the SuperMUC system. To reduce the GPFS data restripe time we will activate the cleanup strategy of the $SCRATCH file system on Friday March 8, 2013 at 12:00 CET. Please note, that all data in /gpfs/scratch with a time stamp older than February 22nd, 2013 12:00 CET will be deleted by this automatic GPFS $SCRATCH cleanup mechanism. Since there is no automatic backup for $SCRATCH we strongly recommed to copy, transfer, or archive the files you want to keep as soon as possible but not later than Thursday March 7th, 2013.
