Changes to this message: Update Update: Due to the unforeseen power interrupt on Sunday, Sep. 23, we have decided not to return the system to user operation before the maintenance any more, since newly started jobs would not complete anyway. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Dear users of the MEGWare MPP cluster at LRZ, due to an extended hardware and software maintenance, the MPP cluster will not be available for user operation between September 24, 8:00 and October 4, 17:00. SLURM batch processing will be suspended on September 24 in order to drain the system before the interruption starts. Part of the maintenance time indicated above is also dedicated for energy measurements on the system. The other cluster segments are not impacted by this maintenance. PRACE Call No. 6 for Project Access

PRACE encourages researchers from across Europe to apply for access to its world class resources for research with potential high European and international impact. PRACE resources are available through three forms of access: * Multi-year Access, * Project Access and * Preparatory Access. Multi-year Access is available to major European projects or infrastructures that can benefit from PRACE resources and for which Project Access is not appropriate. Project Access is intended for individual researchers and research groups including multi-national research groups and has a one year duration. Calls for Proposals for Project Access are issued twice yearly. Preparatory Access is intended for resource use required to prepare proposals for Project Access. Applications for Preparatory Access are accepted at any time. The Call for Proposals for 6th PRACE Project Access (Tier-0) is now open. Aenderungen an der Mitteilung: Update Update 19:30 Uhr: Alle Systeme wieder in Betrieb. Auch die 3 Server S18, S28 und S29 laufen wieder, Bandbetrieb ebenfalls wieder normal. Von dem Stromausfall am 23.09.12 abends waren alle TSM-Server betroffen. Inzwischen laufen alle Server bis auf S18, S28 und S29 wieder. Auch beim Bandbetrieb kann es noch zu Stoerungen kommen, d.h. in manchen Faellen koennen Daten noch nicht zurueckgeholt werden. An der Fehlerbehebung wird gearbeitet. Wir bitten um Ihr Verstaendnis. Upd:Stromausfall in Garching: LRZ betroffen

Aenderungen an der Mitteilung: Statusaktualisierung Am So. 23.9. gab es in Garching gegen 21:32 einen Stromausfall, der ca. 11 Min. dauerte. Durch die lange Dauer dieses Ausfalls war es leider nicht zu vermeiden, dass beim LRZ einige Dienste betroffen waren, die nicht per Diesel-Notstrom versorgt werden. Die Behebungsarbeiten haben sich in den Mo. 24.9. erstreckt. Seit 24.09.2012 11:00 Uhr arbeitet das LRZ wieder im Regelbetrieb. An einzelnen Diensten und System sind noch weitere Reparatur- und Wartungsarbeiten aufgrund des Stromausfalls erforderlich. Derzeit stehen insbesondere der SuperMUC noch nicht und TSM-Backup nur eingeschraenkt zur Verfuegung. Wir werden Sie ueber die weitere Entwicklung auf dem Laufenden halten. 1. TUM Nordgelaende Gebaeude N6 Zwischen 7:30 Uhr und 9:00 Uhr wird der Switch swi1-1b6 gegen ein neues, groesseres Geraet getauscht. 2. Linux-Cluster LCG-Netz Zwischen 8:30 Uhr und 9:00 Uhr kommt es durch eine Umkonfiguration der Netzanbindung zu ca. 5 Minuten Unterbrechung.
