Dear users of SuperMUC, the GPFS filesystems $WORK and $SCRATCH on SuperMUC are currently not available. $HOME and the SuperMIG filesystems are not affected. IBM is already working on the problem. Stoerung des Sophos-Dienstes in der Nacht zum 20.09.

Der Sophos-Dienst des LRZ war in der Nacht zum 20.09. von 22:30 bis 2: 30 Uhr gestoert. Sophos hatte ein Virenpattern ausgeliefert, welches Sophos selbst als Virus erkannt hat und in die Qurantaene geschoben hat. Dadurch hat sich Sophos selbst blockiert und keine weiteren Updates zugelassen. Betroffen sind alle Rechner die in dem Zeitraum gelaufen sind. Alle Maschinen die erst nach dem Zeitraum sich Updates vom zentralen Verteilpunkt des LRZ geholt haben, sind davon nicht betroffen. Um Ihnen auch in Zukunft die gewohnte Servicequalitaet zur Verfuegung stellen zu koennen, fuehren wir am Montag, den 08.10.12 von 7:00 bis ca. 17:00 Uhr eine Hard- und Softwarewartung an unserem Archiv- und Backupsystem durch. Im Zuge dieser Wartung kann es Beeintraechtigungen bei den Tapemounts und bei der Verfuegbarkeit der Server geben. Wir bitten um Ihr Verstaendnis, falls es zu Unannehmlichkeiten auf Ihrer Seite kommen sollte. Am 18.09.2012 werden folgende Wartungsarbeiten durchgefuehrt: Wo : TUM, Bau 2, Serverraum 3205 Wann: zwischen 7:30 Uhr - 9:30 Uhr Was : Der Switch swn1-3bc (Serverraum Switch) wird getauscht. Da umfangreiche Arbeiten noetig sind kann waehrend der gesamten obigen Zeit auf die Geraete im Raum (Server) nicht zugegriffen werden. Wo : Staatsbibliothek, Bauamt, Monomenta, Historicum, Historisches Kolleg, Hochschule fuer Philosophie, Kaulbachstr. 19, SWH Kaulbachstrasse 25 Wann: zwischen 7:30 Uhr - 8:00 Uhr fuer einige Sekunden Was : Die Anbindung zur Staatsbiliothek wird auf 10 GBit/s erhoet. Deshalb kommt es zur Unterbrechung der Aussenanbindung fuer ca. 30 Sekunden beim Umstecken der Leitung. Betroffen sind auch alle Institutionen deren Anbindungen ueber die Staatsbibliothek laufen. ********************************************************************* 10th Tuning Workshop of the Virtual Institute - High Productivity Supercomputing (VI-HPS) at Leibniz Rechenzentrum (LRZ), Garching-bei-Muenchen, Germany 16-19 October 2012 http:/www.vi-hps.org/ vi-hps-tw10/ ********************************************************** *********** To help improve the quality and accelerate the development process of complex simulation codes in science and engineering, the VI-HPS Virtual Institute - High Productivity Supercomputing develops tools for checking the correctness and analyzing the performance of parallel applications. Emphasis is given to the programming models MPI & OpenMP. This workshop organized by VI-HPS for Gauss Centre for Supercomputing PRACE Advanced Training Centre will: * give an overview of our programming tools suite * explain the functionality of individual tools, and how to use them effectively * offer hands-on experience and expert assistance using the tools Tools which will be covered include Kcachegrind, MAQAO, PAPI, Periscope, Scalasca, TAU, Vampir and Score-P. The workshop will be held in English and runs from 09:00 to not later than 18:00 each day, with breaks for lunch and refreshments. There is no fee for participation, however, participants are responsible for their own travel and accommodation arrangements.
